Mohammad S. Rahman is a partner with the firm and is a registered patent attorney with an electro-mechanical background. He earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 1995. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Villanova University School of Law in 1999 while simultaneously earning a Masters in Business Administration from Villanova University’s School of Business in 1999 focusing on Information and Decision Technology, where he was named to the Beta Gamma Sigma national honor society.

Mr. Rahman is a founding section council member of the Maryland State Bar Association IP Section and a previous co-chair of the National Association of Minority and Women-Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) IP Practice Area Committee.

Mr. Rahman concentrates on domestic and foreign patent application preparation and prosecution in the electrical, mechanical, telecommunications, material science, computer, and software related arts as well as trademark-related matters. Mr. Rahman has numerous published writings, and has been invited as a guest speaker at international IP conferences and patent prosecution training sessions in Bangalore, India. Prior to starting the firm, Mr. Rahman was a partner at a patent law firm in Annapolis, MD, and prior to that worked as an intellectual property attorney in Washington, DC and Philadelphia, PA, and was involved in all aspects of intellectual property law including domestic and foreign patent and trademark prosecution, as well as litigation. Mr. Rahman has also provided counsel to several internet start-up companies, and also prepared in-house strategic patent plans for ophthalmic companies and golf equipment manufacturers to aid them in developing successful in-house patent programs.

Prior to entering the legal field, Mr. Rahman worked in the engineering division at an aerospace company in Columbia, MD where he designed, performed, and analyzed experiments conducted on various engineering materials and chemicals used in the production of aerospace and aeronautical devices. Moreover, he developed and improved manufacturing techniques for the in-house production of electro-mechanical devices.
